2011 Academy Award Nominations Announced

We here at Popcouver have a pretty sick love for award season, so it is a pretty big deal every year when they announce the Oscar nominations. This years nominations came out today. Check them out below. We are looking forward to all the beautiful dresses and well dressed men, but not all that surprised by this years nominees. They were pretty predictable. What do you all think, who are you putting your money on for this years Oscars?

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 27.

  1. The kids are alright is on here? For some reason that movie doesn’t scream “Oscar” for me, but I guess the Academy thinks so… Have either of you seen it?

  2. Not yet… It’s playing at Denman Place Cinema still, so I’m hoping to get down there before the Oscars!

    I’ve heard great things about it. You didn’t like it?

  3. I haven’t seen it, but normally when I think of the oscars I think of high brow cinema you know? Mark Ruffulo is still the guy who was in 13 going on 30 in my head. It just doesn’t seem like brilliant cinema to me, but I guess I am not the authority on that seeing as I have not seen the film. Haha.
