Happy Birthday, Canada!

It’s a little annoying that Canada Day is a Thursday this year. It doesn’t really count as a long weekend, but it feels like it should be one! Many companies are shutting down for both July 1 and 2, but not all. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to get out and celebrate this great country for the day!

Granville Island in Vancouver is hosting a massive Canada Day Celebration for all ages, not just parents and children. There will be a parade as well as Jazz concerts throughout the day, and if you tire of the peppy entertainment, you can always grab a Beer at the Brewery! www.granvilleisland.com

Canada Place is also hosting a celebration, with a street festival and parade. Entertainment includes MMVA nominee Carly Rae Jepsen, Hey Ocean!, and dancers from CTV’s hit, So You Think You Can Dance Canada.

If you’re feeling particularily fancy or generous, the Hearts on the Harbour cruise fundraiser provides support to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Tickets are $95-$105 and include a cruise through the harbour, appetizers, drinks, and a spectacular view of the English Bay fireworks. Call 604-537-1539 for tickets or more information.
